Her journey
The journey
of a storyteller,
mother & survivor.
Connie-Vee has always loved the arts. She grew up performing music with her colorful family, including her uncles, The Chambers Brothers, singing at venues like the Roxy, the Whisky-a-Go-Go and the Hollywood Bowl.
Her love for books connected her to both the written and visual arts. Today her work celebrates the power of seeing ourselves reflected on the screen, in a book, and on the canvas, at a time when Black bodies, stories and histories are increasingly vulnerable to erasure.
“When a life-journey intersects with art, something magically happens that causes us to look deeper into ourselves.”
